AMELIA P. GUEVARA Officer-in-Charge UP Diliman Office of the Vice President for Administration 22 September 2003 Memorandum No. MVG-03-95 FOR: All Vice Presidents All Chancellors Heads of Units Subject: Authority to Drive Government Vehicles ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Office has been receiving queries on whether or not non U.P. contractual employees may be given authority to drive government vehicles. We wish to clarify once and for all that only those who are duly appointed as Drivers and with professional drivers license can be allowed to drive government vehicles. In very meritorious cases however, a head of unit may authorize an employee with non-driver position to drive as long as he has valid professional driver’s license. Head of Units who authorize non-U.P. employees to drive will be answerable should an accident occurs. Please disseminate this memorandum circular to all your constituents for the protection of the University in case of accident or other untoward incident involving its official vehicles. Thank you. Martin V. Gregorio Vice President for Administration
