2 June 2005 Memorandum No. SSC-05-029 To: All Deans and Head of Units, Atty, Ida May La'O, OVCCA Arch. Nicolo del Castillo, OCA Subject: Concerns Raised regarding the Office of the Campus Architect during the Executive Committee Meeting on May 25, 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the last Executive Committee (EC) meeting held on May 25, 2005, some concerns were raised regarding the Office of the Campus Architect. Dean Rowena Guevara of the College of Engineering, for example, mentioned that the new plan for the building of the Engineering Library did not include changing the entire weak ceiling. She suggested that there should be a study of the role of OCA in terms of planning and development as a result of what happrened to their library. Dean Corazon Rodriguez of the Asian Intstitute of Tourism related the case of the subcontractor to transfer the power supply from the basement to an outside location but which was not finished. Now, every time it rains, she said they were afraid of being electrocuted from the flooded basement. Similar concerns were raised by Dean Erlinda Echanis of CBAand Prof. Oscar Ferrer of the CSWCD. In this connection, I may I request the Deans and other head of units to provide details of incidents like these so that we could address them? It will also allow the OCA to respond and address these concerns. The performance of the OCA, is the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Atty. Ida May La'O, who is very much concerned with the resolution of the matter and will coordinate with the Deans and head of units accordingly. Sergio S. Cao Chancellor
