Subject: Visit of His Excellency Indian President Abdul Kalam 
 on February 6, 2006

The University of the Philippines Diliman has the honor of receiving His 
 Excellency Indian President Abdul Kalam on Monday, February 6, 2006. 
 President Kalam will have a brief presentation on the "Role of Science 
 and Technology in Development" at the National Institute for Science and 
 Mathematics Education (NISMED) auditorium at 11:30 a.m.

President Kalam is a foremost missile scientist and one of the most 
 distinguished scientists of India. He is also a man of the arts, having 
 authored a number of literary books that have been translated into various 
 Indian languages. His visit to the University is part of his mission of 
 crystallizing in young minds the importance of science and technology in 
 national development.

May I request faculty members to encourage their students to attend this 
 rare event on the 6th of February? Thank you.
