Course Description: An overview of indigenous musical traditions & musical idioms associated with cultures of various peoples of the Philippines.

I.                 Prelude to the Philippine Musical Vista: concepts, historical background, geography. (3 hrs.)

II.              The Cordillera Soundscape: Music of the Kalinga, Bontok, Ifugao, Ibaloi, Tingguian  (3 hrs.)

III.            The Literary Mangyan: Hanunoo Music and Syllabary The Negrito Chronicles:
