GUIDELINES FOR LOAN APPLICATION  
  • Any bona fide student of the U.P. with no outstanding account with the Office of Scholarships and Student Services may apply for loan.

  • The guarantor (co-debtor) should be a permanent FACULTY MEMBER or EMPLOYEE of the University receiving a salary of at least P72,000.00 per annum.

  • The witness for the co-debtor should be the College Secretary or head of Office.

  • The form should be accomplished properly and completely.  The type of loan applied for should be specified.

  • The required documents, such as student photo-ID card, should be presented when application is submitted.

  • The loan must be paid on or before due date. Nonpayment of said loan will mean barring student from registering during the immediately following registration period.

TYPES OF LOANS  

Tuition Loan Fund. A freshman or sophomore student can borrow a maximum limit of 70% of the total fees per semester; a junior or senior, 80%; a graduate student, 85%.  The student must have ready cash for payment of the balance of the total fees.  Loans should be fully paid (including 6% interest) at one time or in four installments one month before the final examinations.

Short-Term Cash Loan. The loan is to be used only for educational expenses (school supplies, books, board, lodging and similar expenses).  The maximum amount that the student can borrow at one time is P1,000.00 payable within 90 days, with an interest of 1/2% per month.  After ninety days, a service charge of P3.00 per month shall be collected.  The period of payment shall be extendable to another 60 days.  If after the extension the loan has not been fully paid, the co-debtor shall pay the principal, the interest, and the service charge.
