UPD tightens security

    Beefing up security measures on campus, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) issued a directive that may deny entry to motor vehicles without plates and those with obscure plates.
    All motor vehicles entering UPD wih obscure/unreadable, tinted or non-standard plates and those without plates will be apprehended by the UPD Police and checkpoint guards. The Special Services Brigade/SSB is also directed to report such vehicles to UPDP. These vehicles may be denied entry if drivers and/or owners are unable to produce pertinent documents like certificate of registration and/or temporary permit from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
    Meanwhile, vehicle owners whose motor registration are still being processed at the LTO may request a temporary pass from the OVCCA provided proof of ownership is presented to the said office.

OVCCA implements smoking ban in UPD

    The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) released a directive to the UPD Police, Supervisory Team for Private Security and Special Service Brigade to strictly implement RA 9211 or Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 within UPD.
    RA 9211 prohibits among others, smoking in all schools and health facilities, including outdoor premises and in all enclosed or confined public places and all public transportation. This also prohibits the sale of and advertisement of tobacco within 100 meters of schools, playgrounds or other facility frequented particularly by those below 18 years old.
    Vice Chancellor Cynthia Grace C. Gregorio in the statement ordered the campus law enforcers and security team to call the attention of those who would violate RA 9211 especially in public places like waiting sheds, the Shopping Center and the Academic Oval.
    Meanwhile, the OVCCA also issued a statement requesting all unit heads to submit a list of their concerns on the implementation of smoking ban.
Gregorio said the inputs will greatly enhance the University’s compliance of RA 9211 or the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003.

Staff can now monetize 10 days leave credits!

    Faculty administrators and staff can now apply for monetization of 10 days leave credits not later than November 12. This was resolved during the October 17 President’s Advisory Council meeting.
    Those who would avail should ensure that after the monetization of leave credits, at least 15 days of sick leave credits and five days vacation leave credits (mandatory leave) are retained.
    The approved monetization will be released to qualified applicants starting November 30.

UPD to transfer payroll account to LBP, PVB

    The imminent privatization of the Philippine National Bank (PNB) has prompted UPD to take steps to transfer its payroll accounts to the remaining government banks on campus—Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) and the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB). Both LBP and PVB are accredited by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as official government depository banks.
    The Office of the Chancellor (OC) has directed all personnel with PNB accounts to indicate which of the two banks they prefer to have their payroll accounts.

NCPAG hosts conferences in October, December

    The National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) will host the 5th Asia Pacific regional conference of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) in October and the NAPSIPAG/NCPAG International Conference in December.
    The ISTR conference will be held at the NCPAG Assembly Hall on October 17 and 18. Topics to be discussed include: “The Third Sector as Vital Contributors to the Attainment of the Millennium Development Goals;” “A Third Sector Initiative to Address Poverty;” and “MDGs and the Third Sector in the Philippines.” Panel sessions will follow the discussions. The book Asian Third Sector Governance will be launched on October 17.
    Meanwhile, the NAPSIPAG/NCPAG International Conference on Public Administration at the Forefront of Change: Dimensions, Dynamics, Dysfunctions and Solutions will be held from December 5 to 7 at the Hyatt Hotel, Manila.
The conference will be participated in by public administrators and experts in public administration from Asia and Australia.
