Bongga delivered a message on behalf of the retired faculty and REPS.

The former Vice Chancellor said her stint in UP was both a special privilege and a distinct honor. Bongga said she was truly grateful for the opportunity to develop professionally and for the gift of excellent education.

“The years spent serving the University of the Philippines will always be remembered with a great indebtedness and will remain a significant chapter in my life. Teaching or working in UP has become a way of life for many of us who have been part of and witnessed the growth of this University,” said Bongga.

At the same program, seven personnel who have served the University for 40 or more years were given the Gawad Paglilingkod award. They were Luis M. Alarilla Jr. (College of Engineering); Lamberto D. Atienza (NCPAG); Annabelle A. Herrera (College of Science); Zenaida S. Macaspac (Institute of Small Scale Industries); Amelita C. Masecampo (Office of Alumni Relations); Josefina L. Pabellon (National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development); and Roberto D. Paz (College of Education).

The retirees were later treated to merienda cena at the College of Music Courtyard. The area was neatly set up, a much deserved treat for the devoted and selfless service of the retired UP personnel.
