The University of the Philippines National Engineering Center (NEC) will celebrate its 30th Anniversary on January 30 with the second customers’ and partners’ day along with free lectures on interesting topics, technology demonstrations and a photo exhibit.
NEC was created in 1978 through P.D. 1295. It has been instrumental in helping the industry, academe and government institutions in finding solutions to engineering problems through professional engineering training, research and development, and technical consulting.
It has increased the scope and coverage of professional engineering trainings to meet the growing demands of the industry. NEC has forged partnership with several organizations and universities here and abroad to address engineering problems in the Philippines as well as to improve the skills of the country’s human resources including non-engineers. In 2007, NEC trained 1,597 engineers all over the Philippines.
Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, the first woman executive director of NEC and first woman dean of College of Engineering, spearheads the event
