North Science & Technology (S&T) Park at UPD groundbreaking rites.
A time capsule was buried at the UPD property along Commonwealth
Avenue on March 8 to mark the site where the new S&T park will soon
rise. Clad in safety helmets and sporting shovels at the rites were:

Interfaith Dialogue and Other Issues. Iranian Ambassador to the
Philippines Jalal Kalantari (right) met with UPD Chancellor
Sergio S. Cao as part of his visit to the Asian Center on February 7.
The Ambassador was with officials of the Islamic Culture Relations
Organization and Imam Khomeni Education and Research Institute,
who were the key speakers in the roundtable discussion “Interfaith
Dialogue and Other Cultural Issues.”

Officials of the the Polish University paid a courtesy call on Chancellor
Sergio S. Cao as part of their visit to UPD from February 5 to 8. In photo

History and Culture” was organized by the Office of Extension Coordination at Pulungang
Claro M. Recto on February 5. The symposium featured Dr. Aleksander Wojciech-Mikolajczak
, who spoke on “Classical and Ancient Roots and Influences of Europe,” while
Dr. Mariola Mikolajczak presented the lecture “ Cultural Tourism: Polish Language, Culture,
People and History.” Members of the UPD faculty in various colleges reacted to both lectures.

Singing for a cause. UPD Chancellor Sergio S. Cao, accompanied
on the piano by College of Engineering’s Dean Rowena P. Guevara,
performed several musical numbers at “In Retro Harmony,” a fund-raising
concert held at the Captain’s Bar of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on
February 24. With the UPD officials is Onie Mayo, a UPD alumnus and
original member of the NEOCAFA Singers, the group featured in the show.
The concert was organized by renowned printmaker and CFA alumnus
Leonore Lim and CFA dean Florentina Colayco to support the College’s
centennial projects.

Changing of the guards. The Office of the Chancellor tendered an
intimate get-together to send off outgoing Human Resource
Development Office (HRDO) Director Dakila Fernando at the
Balay Chanselor on February 28. The party was also meant to
welcome the new HRDO head, College of Engineering professor
Dr. Angela Escoto. Sharing a light moment at the affair were
