In Memoriam
Victoria A. Bautista, Professor 12 at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, passed away on February 3 from complications due to a ruptured aneurysm. She joined UP on May 15, 1967 as an Instructor at the College of Agriculture in UP Los Baños. She transferred to the then College of Public Administration at UPD as a Research Associate on November 16, 1971 and was appointed to a teaching post as Assistant Professor III on September 1, 1975. She served the University for 41 years.
Gaudencio T. Chan, a Construction and Maintenance General Foreman at the Campus Maintenance Office, passed away on March 29. He served UP for 36 years, starting as an Emergency Laborer at the then Physical Plant Office on June 1, 1972.
Emmanuel G. Gregorio, a singer, professor and choral conductor at the College of Music (CM) passed away on January 30. He joined the College of Music as Senior Lecturer I in September 1992 and retired in 2006 with the rank of Assistant Prof. 6. He served the university for 14 years.
Cesar N. Padugar, Utility Worker II at the University Food Service, passed away on February 5. He served UP for 32 years, starting as an Emergency Food Service Worker on June 14, 1976.
Editha P. dela Rosa, Records Officer II at the School of Urban and Regional Planning, passed away on February 25. She served the University for 31 years, starting as a Clerk on February 2, 1977. She was appointed to a permanent position as Clerk-Typist on January 1, 1999.
Raquel R. Tuazon, Data Controller III at the UP Diliman Budget Office, passed away on March 20. Ate Raquel to many of her co-workers, she served the University for 32 years, starting as an Emergency Employee at the Budget Offfice on May 27, 1976. She was appointed to a permanent position as Data Controller I on July 1, 1989.
Carlos Perez Valino, Jr., Professor II at the College of Fine Arts passed away on February 1. He joined UP in 1958 as Instructor I at the School of Fine Arts and served as College Secretary form 1965 to 1969. By that time the school was renamed College of Architecture and Fine Arts. He retired from government service on October 2, 1991. Valino is best known for his paintings that portray historic events such as Lapu-Lapu’s victory over Magellan and scenes of revolution against Spain.
Romeo S. Yumul, Property Custodian at the College of Arts and Letters, passed away on January 16. He served the University for 39 years, starting as Gardener at the then College of Arts and Sciences on July 1, 1969. He was appointed to a permanent position on September 9, 1971.
Arnel C. Zafra, Bookbinder IV at the University Library, passed away on January 7. He joined UP on January 9, 1991 as a temporary Utility Worker II and was appointed to a permanent position a year later.
