UP Landmarks Exhibit opens in Paris

The Monochromed Memories: UP Landmarks Centennial Exhibition successfully opened on November 4 at the Salle de Pas Perdus in UNESCO Paris. Gracing the event were Mme. Ana Luiza Machado, UNESCO Deputy Assistant Director General for Education representing UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura, HE José Abeto Zaide, Philippine Ambassador to France; Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, HE Thierry Borja de Mozota, incoming ambassador to the Philippines, members of the diplomatic corps, U.

In her speech, Mme. Machado expressed cheer in hosting the exhibit at the Maison de l’Unesco and congratulated the University of the Philippines on its centenary which UNESCO has included in its 2008-2009 biennium together with 66 other anniversaries worldwide. These milestones pertain to “personalities of genuinely universal stature, nominated posthumously, and works or events of genuinely worldwide or at least regional significance that reflect the ideals, values, the cultural diversity and the universality of the Organization.”
