SUBJECT : Request for Assistance in Relation to the Search Process
As you are no doubt aware, President Emerlinda R. Roman initiated the formal process for the Search for the 2008 U.P. Diliman Chancellor in December 2007. The Search Committee was constituted last month and we are well into our work program. Two more public consultations are scheduled in ten days time, and it is in connection with these that I am writing this memorandum. On 11 February (Monday), the consultative forum for all Faculty is scheduled to be held from 9:00AM – 12 Noon at the College of Engineering Theater, while on 12 February (Tueday), the second forum for Students will be held at the NISMED Auditorium, also from 9:00AM – 12 Noon.
The Search Committee requests your assistance, in the first instance, in reminding the concerned constituents in your units about the two consultations. In the second instance, the committee would be most gratified if you would allow those faculty members and students of your unit who may wish to participate, to attend the fora without penalty, should they have classes during the periods in question. This is not, however, a request to dismiss classes generally.
The consultative fora will be opportunities for them to hear the two nominees for the Chancellorship, incumbent Chancellor Sergio S. Cao and Prof. Ma. Serena Diokno, present their Vision Statements and outline their accomplishments that will be relevant for the position. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion. Additionally, the Search Committee will be happy to hear any issues that may be relevant for the coming three year term.
As previously announced, any U.P. constituent may also ask questions or bring issues to our attention by emailing us at our account 2008upchancellor@gmail.com. However, to be considered, such communications must be authentic with the senders identifying themselves properly.
Thank you for your consideration.
