Voluntarism is an integral part of U. P.’s mission. It enriches the University’s performance of its functions of instruction, research and extension. It also expresses, in a forceful and focused way,
U. P.’s nationalism and commitment. The University engages in voluntarism:

to share with society what U. P. has analyzed and discovered; j to enrich teaching and research with knowledge culled from the people themselves about the conditions and needs of the nation;

to promote the study of voluntarism and related topics as a subject of scholarship and instruction;

as a means of propagating actions and values most honored in society-- human dignity, social justice, love of country, and respect for all beings; and

as a means of building character and promoting values education.
