February is UP Diliman Month. In commemoration of the campus’ pioneering move to its new home and coinciding celebration of National Arts Month, the Office of the Chancellor has lined up a calendar of activities that celebrate UP Diliman Honor and Excellence in various disciplines.  Read more

New UPD Chancellor presents 3-year agenda for UPD


(January 30)—The public got a taste of what will happen in the next three years when UPD Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma dispensed with formal investiture rites and opted for simple convocation of the UPD community last December 8, 2011 as his inaugural ceremony.

With all of UPD work and classes suspended starting 4 p.m., the community gathered at the University Theater to hear Saloma’s plans for the next two years of his term.

Armed with little more than a pointer and pluck, Saloma began his presentation by outlining four main goals for UP as mandated by its 2008 Charter: for it to be a “graduate university, a research university, a public service university and a recognized regional and global university” by achieving operational and academic excellence.  Read more

UPD celebrates the 2011 Lantern Parade


(January 5)—Why is the Lantern Parade considered the most anticipated Christmas event in UPD? Because the annual celebration, like the 2011 Lantern Parade held on December 16, turned out to be eventful, packed with loads of surprises including not only a parade of colorful floats and lanterns but also of irony and tragedy. Read more

Yuletide dance concert


Five celebrated dance groups of UPD kicked the season into high gear with a concert held last December 14, as each group brought their interpretation of the holiday season in their respective genre.  Read more

CSSP’s Tiriritz wins Karolfest 2011


(December 12)— Tiriritz, the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) choir, emerged as the grand prize winner, besting 10 other student choirs in the 2011 Karolfest held December 9 at the University Theater. Read more

Pag-iilaw opens Christmas at UPD


(December 6)—Even the slight drizzle that amplified the chilly evening air did not stop Christmas celebrations in UPD as the Pag-iilaw, the traditional ceremony where the decorations of all the major buildings such as Quezon Hall are lit up for the first time, went underway last December 5.  Read more

It’s Christmas time once again and in UP Diliman, that means only one thing: celebration. Aside from each college’s own activities, the UPD administration also prepared a myriad of events that revolve around the theme “Pasko 2011: Isang Unibersidad, Isang Komunidad.” Read more
