Private scholarships open for application |

The Office of Scholarships and Student Services announces the opening for application of the following scholarships effective the second semester, 2002-2003: ROSAURO ARMM SCHOLARSHIP An applicant for the grant must come from the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines; if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have obtained an average of "2.5" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; must be enrolled in any of the following courses: BS Agribusiness, Management, BS Agricultural Chemistry, BS Agricultural Engineering, BS Agriculture, BS Aquaculture, BS Business Administration, BS Fisheries (Fisheries, Business Management), BS Fisheries (Fish Processing Technology), BS Fisheries (Marine Fisheries). In the absence of qualified applicants for the above-mentioned courses, other fields of study may be considered upon proper justification and prior approval of the donor; must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P100,000.00). Benefits: P25,000.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

CAMPAIGNS & GREY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide Fine Arts student of the University of the Philippines, Diliman working towards a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Visual Communications; if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT and the Talent Determination Test; if already enrolled as a freshman, must have obtained an average grade of "2.00" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000.00); must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension. Benefits: P15,000.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

PETER VALDES SCHOLARSHIP GRANT IN ENGINEERING An applicant for the scholarship must be interested in engaging in software development as a career and must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines enrolled in any of the following courses: BS Computer Science, BS Computer Engineering, BS Electronics and Communication Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering and BS Industrial Engineering; must be at least in his/her third year; must have obtained an average of "2.0" or better and must have carried at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant; must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension; must take elective courses related to computer software design and development and in one elective/course must do a special project under a UP faculty member recommended by Peter Valdes or his representative; must be encouraged to do a one summer OJT at a software development company recommended by Peter Valdes or his representative. Benefits: P18,500.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

FRANCIS PADUA-PAPICA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP An applicant for the grant must be a bona fide entering freshman student of the University of the Philippines who is enrolled in any four- or five-year course; must come from the Bicol region; must be financially deserving (parents' annual gross income does not exceed P200,000.00); must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action; must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant. Benefits: P25,000.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

TIMOTEO AND LUISA CACHOLA SCHOLARSHIP GRANT An applicant for the grant must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines who have family ties in the towns of Narvacan or Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur; must have obtained an average of "2.5" or better and must have carried at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; must be financially deserving (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000.00), however, academic excellence and outstanding extra-curricular activities may be considered regardless of family income; must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action; must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant. Benefits: P25,000.00 per semester Maintenance Average:
"2.5" TAU ALPHA OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP GRANT An applicant for the grant must be a member in good standing of the Tau Alpha Fraternity who is a bona fide Engineering, Architecture or Computer Science student of the University of the Philippines; if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have obtained an average of "3.0" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant; must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000.00); must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension. Benefits: P17,500.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

EDUCATIONAL SUBSIDY OF ALLOTMENT FOR INDIGENT BUT DESERVING STUDENTS (Represented by Hon. Cong. Ismael "Chuck" G. Mathay III) An applicant for the grant must be a bona fide undergraduate student enrolled in any four- or five-year degree program in the University of the Philippines, Diliman who is a resident of District II of Quezon City; if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have obtained an average of at least "2.50" during the semester immediately preceding the application for a load of not less than 15 units with no grade of "5.00", unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Inc."; must be a Filipino citizen; must be a full-time student and must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award; must belong to a family whose parents' annual gross income does not exceed P200,000.00; must not have been found guilty of participating in any violent incident such as hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus. Benefits: P10,000.00 per semester Maintenance Average:

EDUCATIONAL SUBSIDY OF ALLOTMENT FOR INDIGENT BUT DESERVING STUDENTS (Represented by Hon. Cong. Reynaldo A. Calalay) An applicant for the grant must be a bona fide undergraduate student enrolled in any four- or five-year degree program in the University of the Philippines, Diliman who is a resident of District I of Quezon City; if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have passed all academic subjects during the semester immediately preceding the application for a load of not less than 15 units with no grade of "5.00" and unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Inc."; must be a Filipino citizen; must be a full-time student and must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award; must be financially deserving (STFAP Bracket 7 or lower); must not have been found guilty of participating in any violent incident such as hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus. Benefits: P2,500.00 per semester Maintenance Average: all passing
