Binalot Talks

Binalot Talks is a series of lectures held every Wednesday, lunchtime (12pm - 2pm), in the ASP lecture room (Palma Hall Basement). The topics are varied, ranging from the archaeology, to art, to mathematics, and even politics. The participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch or share with others.

On February 13, 2008, Dr. Phil Piper will talk about "The Archaeology of Pigs and People in Southeast Asia". Bring your lunch at around 12-ish pm and we'll see you there! (click on the poster to see a bigger version)

February 27, 2008 - "Indigenous Approaches Utilized by Parents and Educators in Addressing the Needs of Intellectually Superior Filipino Children Aged 4-9 years Old" by Rhoda Myra Garces Bascal.

March 5, 2008 - "Possibilities and Challenges of Community Museums: The Case of Balay ni Tan Juan in Bago City, Negros Occidental" by Cecilia de la Paz.


Application

February 15, 2008 (Friday) - Deadline for the application for ASEM-Duo Fellowship. A limit of 3-paged letter of intent must be submitted to Ms. Aida Tiama or Ms. Digna Jacar.


Discussion Group

February 20, 2008 (Wednesday) - This meeting will discuss the theme of Philippine archaeological theory. Specifically, three articles, by:

Mijares, A. 1998. Philippine Archaeology in Retrospect. Hukay 1.1: 5-16.
Ragragio, Aya. 2005. History and Philippine Archaeology History (a talk by Dr. Paz on August 18, 2005). Test Pit 7: 18.
Santiago, A. 2001. Theoretical Development in Philippine Archaeology. Hukay 3: 1-6.


Conference

February 22, 2008 (Friday). The Microscopy Society of the Philippines (MICROSPHIL) will be holding a conference with the theme "Advancing Research Through Microscopy".
