2006 Research Mission - Senior researcher visit to Limoges
The first research visit by a senior researcher from the Philippines, Professor Carlos Bautista, took place on 16 March to 16 April 2006. His visit to Limoges basically laid the groundwork for more collaboration in research with other European universities in the consortium: University of Birmingham and University of Poitiers. The research agenda of the project as outlined in the ASIA-LINK terms of reference were firmed up through brainstorming sessions with UNILIM faculty. By the end the visit, research topics were match with the research personnel of the project (junior and senior researchers from the Philippines and professors from partner European universities). Tentative titles were also given to put more focus on the topics. Research assignments of the Junior researchers who are scheduled to visit UNILIM, Birmingham and Poitiers from July to September 2006 and in 2007 were discussed with the Limoges faculty during his visit. The planned colaborative paper with Dr Rous and Dr Tarazi on bank systemic risk was started during the visit. A major portion of the visit was consumed by the empirical work done for the paper. Several econometric exercises were done with co-authors after data have been obtained from UNILIM’s databases. Also towards the end of the visit, a joint paper on banking efficiency with Dr Laetitia Lepetit and doctoral students from UP and UNILIM was planned.
