Cases were written to develop instructional materials for the Institute for Culture and the Arts Management (ICAM) under a grant from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The cases are organized into ten modules. Starting with concept creation and development (MCO Foundation) and planning (Ballet Philippines, Email Conversations and Music Isn’t Free), the functional areas of management are then covered: human resources (Quezon City Performing Arts – A and B), marketing (Galeria Milano, National Museum, Repertory Philippines), management control (Cultural Center of the Philippines – A and B), legal and risk management (Ang Pangalan Ko’y Urduja), logistics (Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival and Philippine Youth Orchestra) and finally, evaluation (My Mom, the Camp Director). MANAGEMENT CONTROL IN CHINESE-FILIPINO BUSINESS ENTERPRISES by Emerlinda R. Roman, Erlinda S. Echanis, Ernesto P. Pineda, Rafael A. Rodriguez and Maria Teresa M. Sicat. The research on which this monograph is based was done to explore management control and related practices in Chinese-Filipino enterprises, document how these practices are translated into formal operating systems, and assess the extent to which such control practices constitute effective methods for managing or constraining further business growth. The study has two parts: Part I discusses the conditions under which the management practices of the respondent enterprises constitute generally effective systems of management control. Part II consists of case studies of ten Chinese-Filipino enterprises representing business of different types and sizes (as indicated by gross sales). These case studies describe in some detail the control systems and practices of the respondent enterprises. (University of the Philippines Press, 1996)
