TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ELITE LABORATORY (TIEL) Rm.
408 Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Building The Texas Instruments Elite Laboratory (TIEL) was established in October 1998 with the objective of making the Philippines a center of academic and commercial DSP technology by promoting and proliferating TI-DSP technology of the EEE's faculty and students. Texas Instruments Philippines, Inc. donated advanced TI-DSP hardware development kits that use fixed-point and floating-point processors, and the complementing software development tools such as the Code Composer. The donor provides the upgrade of the development kits on a yearly basis. The TIEL is used for demonstration, instruction, and projects in the following courses: CoE 121/EE 274 (Introduction to DSP), CoE 125 (Modern Audio Engineering), CoE 197 - Digital Filter Design, CoE 198/ ECE 198 (Undergraduate Project). A new course on DSP Hardware (CoE 197) is also offered, comprising of processor architecture, programming, and applications. In CoE 197, half of the semester is devoted to TI-DSP. With the TIEL, the DSP Lab is able to pursue research in embedded systems and real-time DSP applications.
