WORKS. Plays: Winners in the University of Wisconsin Playwriting Competition, her first two plays were published, Sepang Loca in Farleigh Dickensen University Literary Journal and Rooms as Acting Edition of Row-Peterson of New York. 44 plays followed. Fiction: Most of 150 stories published in the Philippine Journal of Education, 1988-2007, from the bulk of her writings for children. Essays: A first book on Philippine theatre, The ‘Seditious’ Tagalog Playwrights: Early American Occupation, Sepang Loca and Others, among 21 books. AWARDS. Recipient of 50 national and international awards like ASEAN Prize For Literature, University Professor Emeritus, U.P. Golden Jubilee Most Distinguished Alumnus Award, Fulbright Smith Mundt Scholar, Gawad ng Maynila (Dula), Gawad Haraya, Gawad CCP, Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas, Palanca, FORD Fellow, Toyota Fellow. OTHER WORKS. Dubbed Grande Dame of Southeast Asian Children’s Theatre; Playwright, Puppetmaker and Artistic Director of Teatrong Mulat, 1977 which staged her plays throughout the country and in 28 international festivals. President of two international children’s organization: UNIMA-Philippine Center and ASSITEZ-Philippines, she still performs as Storyteller in the AMELIA LAPEÑA-BONIFACIO TEATRO PAPET MUSEO at 64 Mapagkawanggawa Street, Teachers Village, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
