Pagpupugay sa mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining sa Panitikan
Pagpupugay (to honor) pays tribute to our National Artist held in the venue of their choice. This project is sponsored by the NCCA and Likhaan. In Pagpupugay, the National Artists talks on his or her writing experiences which will be capped by a theatrical showcase of any of his or her works.
Pistang Panitik
Pistang Panitik is the annual celebration of Philippine literature by where writers and readers interact with each other in various activities. Held annually in partnership with the Manila International Book Fair, Pistang Panitik aims at encouraging Filipino readers to buy books and enjoy reading.
Writers Night
One of Likhaan’s fund-raising events, the Writers Night is an annual reunion and Christmas Party for all the country’s writers. Renowned visual artists donate their works while writers also donate their manuscripts, literary memorabilia, and rare books, which are all then auctioned off. Usually held in the first week of December, Writers Night showcases a number activities taking place simultaneously: literary readings, concerts, exhibits, food and beverage booths, portrait making, etc.
Conspiwriters' Night
In collaboration with Conspiracy Garden Café along Visayas Avenue in Quezon City, Likhaan holds Conspiwriters' Night every Tuesday. Program for this regular event includes literary readings, performance poetry, musical presentations, etc. In the future there may be slam poetry contests, Balagtasan rap, children’s storytelling, etc.
Sawikaan
In cooperation with the Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Blas F. Ople Foundation, Likhaan co-sponsors this competition where contestants present a paper on their choice of the Word of the Year: that is, a single word that best reflects Pinoy culture.
Literatour
The UP Likhaan Literatour is a lecture-workshop in poetry, fiction, drama, or creative nonfiction offered to schools, colleges and universities. Panelists from Likhaan deliver lectures and conduct workshops that may help schools enhance instructions in the field of literature and creative writing.
Textanaga, Dalitext, Dionatext, and Textsawikain
Textanaga, Dalitext, Dionatext, Textsawikain are perhaps the world’s first text-a-poem contests conducted annually by Likhaan, together with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL), and Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT). It aims to revive indigenous or traditional poetic forms the postmodernist way—through Short Messaging Service.
Bukambibig Literary Reading Series
Bukambibig promotes reading of literary pieces in public libraries. This program aims to expand the audience of Philippine literature.
Panitikabataan
Panitikabataan is the first and only national students conference on Philippine literature. It seeks to encourage students to undertake research on various aspects of Philippine literature. Young literary researchers or critics read at a symposium their papers on themes such as oral literature: from Balagtasan to performance poetry; writing in the regional languages; future fiction; literature and gender; teen literature, etc.
