

The IIS faculty members and the graduates of AY 2005-2006.
IIS Recognition
Day was held last April 21, 2006 at the UP Bulwagang Sala’am.
Dean Carmen Abubakar conferred recognition certificates to seven
graduates for batch 2005-2006; seven Dean’s Listers; two special
awardees and one Alumni awardee.
The number of
graduates this year is higher by 50 percent than last year, showing
a good compliance with the thesis requirements.
The graduates are

Students who performed well and belonged to the
Dean’s List were also honored. They are Jabber M. Abbas (1.5);
Darwin

Absari (1.5); Nasrolla Abdullatif (1.43); Ma. Milliza C. Buenafe
(1.33); Jamel R. Cayamodin (1.43); Sohayle M. Hadji Abdul Racman
(1.5); and, Leila a. Halud (1.25) as University Scholar.
The Alumni Outstanding Service Awardee went to Prof. Kamaroddin
Abdulkarim, Dean of the Institute of Asian and Islamic Studies at
WMSU. He was honored for his advocacy in gender and rights-based
approach to reproductive health and volunteer work as Arabic teacher
at a local madrasa.
Other special awards were given to Prof. Abdulrafih H. Sayedy,
former dean of the IIS, who continued to serve the Institute even
after retirement; and Mr. Luis Olid in grateful acknowledgment of
his services to the IIS. Mr. Olid transferred to CMC.▲ -
