JICA Third Country Individual Training Programme: Secondary Mathematics and Science Education for Kenyan INSET (In-Service Training) Trainers
This course provides opportunities for Kenyan INSET trainers (both National and District levels) in secondary mathematics and science education to explore alternative and promising classroom practices. The participants are introduced to effective teaching and learning strategies, incorporating the “Activity, Student, Experiment, Improvisation” (ASEI) and “Plan, Do, See, Improve” (PDSI) approach through a curriculum comprising of lectures, demonstration teaching, peer teaching, field/study trips and various learner-centered strategies to teach content.

Facilitators’ Training in Science and Mathematics Investigations
UP NISMED being the National Center for Research and Innovation in Science and Mathematics Education, conducts this activity-oriented course for science teachers to design a research proposal themselves. On the other hand, mathematics teachers are also trained on how to integrate mathematical investigations in their classes and how to facilitate and coach students’ mathematical investigations. The mathematics teachers make their own mathematical investigations.
