As a Student


During her student days, she was a University Scholar, a private scholar of Gertrudis del Rosario,
and a prizewinner in piano competitions among them the Beethoven Piano Competition and the
National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA). Upon graduation, she received the
Outstanding Music Graduate Award, and was elected to the Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society for Academic Excellence.

Awarded a British Council Scholarship in 1975, she took the Post-Graduate Course and the Certificate in Advanced Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England where she studied piano under James Gibb and the Alexander Technique under Nelly Ben-Or. While there, she was awarded a Silver Medal for achieving second highest honors throughout the British Isles in the Licentiate Diploma Examinations.


As a Pianist

As a leading pianist of our country, she has been the soloist of the Manila Symphony Orchestra,
the Metro Manila Symphony Orchestra, the U.P. Orchestra, the U.P. Chamber Orchestra, the Metro Manila Community Orchestra, and the U.P. String Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Regalado Jose, Helen Quach, Josefino Toledo, and Edna Martinez. A notable performance was the premiere of Nicanor Abelardo's piano concerto, which she performed with the U.P. Chamber Orchestra during the centennial celebration concert in honor of the composer. Her most recent performance was with the U.P. Orchestra, playing Beethoven's "Emperor" Concerto.

In November of 1999, she had the honor of closing the millennium as the final artist of the Cultural
Center of the Philippines Filipino Artists' Series for that year.

She has given concerts all over the Philippines and in 2002, she gave concerts in Delaware and Arizona, USA, to help raise funds for medical missions to the Philippines.

A much sought-after chamber musician and assisting artist, she has performed with leading Filipino and foreign artists both here and abroad.


Her Recordings

She has recorded two compact discs: Augusto Espino's "Seleksiyon" (arrangements of Filipino folksongs) and Christine Muyco's "Likha-Tugtog-Likha" (Piano Pieces For Early Learners and Beyond).

She was chair fo the Piano Department from 1997-2005 and was also a former advisory board member of the Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts.
