ALEGRIA OCAMPO FERRER

Alegria Ocampo Ferrer graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Music with a Master’s Degree in Voice and Minor in Theater Arts as well as 48 units in European Languages and a minor in piano. She has also studied at the Mozarteum Hochschule fur Musik and the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, majoring in Voice and minoring in the German language. She is currently taking up her Doctorate in Public Administration at the UP- National College of Public Administration and Governance and is an assistant professor in its Voice, Theater and Dance Department.
Her voice mentors include Maestra Torralba, Professor Ramos, Miss Lilia Reyes, Professor Fides Asensio, Professor Liselotte Egger, Professor Eleanor Weill, Professor Yasuko Suzuki and Dr. Antonio Hila. She was a guest soloist of the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group and was a soloist during its Japan tour. She was also a member of the U.P. Concert Chorus, being a soloist during its World Concert and Competition Tour of Asia, U.S., Canada and Europe. Her roles in operas, oratorios and plays include solo-one woman-opera La Voix Humane, solo-one-woman-opera Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night, Mimi in La Boheme, Violetta in La Traviata, Lakme in Lakme, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Anastacia in Mayo, Bisperas ng Liwanag, the title role of Phaedra, La Loba in La Loba Negra, Ghost of Cherry in Sakurahime, Mother in Hansel and Gretel, Christine in Phantom of the Opera, as Euridice in Gluck’s Orpheus and Euridice, and soloist of Bach’s Magnificat.
Alegria has performed with the top conductors and orchestras as the Budapest Opera Orchestra, Philippine Philiharmonic Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Angono Symphonic Band and others, and has been concertizing regularly in the U.S. and Japan.
An Aliw Award winner for
Best Classical Performer in 2004 and 2006, Ms. Ferrer is preparing for more
concerts and operas.
