UP DANCE COMPANY

The UP Dance Company is the resident dance company of the College of Music of the University of the Philippines. It is officially a performing arts oraganization of the University. It performs nationwide and in different campuses of the UP System as well as in international dance festivals in Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia. It has annual presentations at the UP Abelardo Hall and the UP Diliman University Theatre.

It has premiered full-evening ballets like War Requiem (Britten), Mariang Sinderela ang Bagong Bayani (Prokofiev), Cracked Nut...Maria Clara’s Colonial Dream (Tchaikovsky), Ang Kasal (Stravinsky and recently Higanti by Adam.

Aside from the dance works from the classics and faculty, it also presents dance majors’ works in the dance degree programs, DCPMA and BM,(major in Dance) of the College of Music.

Under Artistic Director Prof. Steve Villaruz and Associate Aristic Director Angela R. Lawenko, UP Dance Company is now celebratingt its 15th years as a resident performing group of the UP College of Music.
