UP SYMPHONIC BAND
The Band
is a laboratory class for the winds and percussion students of the College.
It also serves as the training ground for the band conducting majors as well
as an extension service training to young instrumentalists within and outside
the University. The U.P. Symphonic Band emerged from the U.P.-Philippine Youth
Symphonic Band in 1986 -where a small wind ensemble expanded and adopted its
name. It has performed in various concerts in U.P. and other venues around
Metro Manila. The Band is presently conducted by Prof.
Leopoldo Lopez of the Winds and Percussion Department of the U.P. College
of Music.
