MUSICOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The MUSICOLOGY Department provides training with three degree
programs both in the undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs are:
DCPMA in Asian Music; B.M. in Musicology; Diploma in Ethnomusicology and M.M.
in Musicology. An integral part of the programs is applied music in Asian
musical instruments taught by visiting professors and traditional musicians
from Kalinga and Mindanao.

The department also functions as a research arm of the College of Music. It
conducts fieldwork and studies particularly on the Philippine and Southeast Asian music.
The department holds a collection of tape recordings and music instruments from
various parts of the country, Asia and Africa, as well as a special library for cultural
researchers.

The department also produce MusiKolokya (a weekly music colloquia) at the College Music Museum.
