Major Instruments Offered: Violin and Viola

1. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Strings in order to qualify for entrance to the graduate program.

2. The applicant must pass at least 2 of 3 modules of the Master's Qualifying Examinations, before he/she can be scheduled for Talent Auditions.

3. The repertoire to be prepared for the Talent auditions should reflect a good representation of the work done in the last semester of his/her undergraduate program level to consist of the performance of a Baroque unaccompanied large work and a complete classical or romantic sonata or concerto equivalent to BM level.

4. If the applicant passes all three modules of the Master's Qualifying Exams and passes the Talent Auditions, he/she is automatically admitted to the program with a status of Full Standing.

5. If the applicant passes two out of three modules and passes the Talent Auditions then this automatically makes his/her status that of Partial Standing. The Composition and Theory department will determine how the student can fulfill his/her deficiency within one academic year in order to be given a status of Full Standing.

6. If the applicant passes all three modules of the Master's Qualifying Exams, passes the talent auditions but lacks the foundation in vocal literature, he/she may be accepted with a Partial Standing and will be given a list of courses by the Strings Department to fulfill said deficiency within one year to put him/her in Full Standing.

7. If student with Partial Standing fail to fulfill the necessary requirements within one academic year, the rules of the Graduate Studies Program regarding such cases will be applied.

8. UP BM String graduates with an average of 1.25 or higher in their major (MP100-190) are exempted from taking the entrance auditions if they apply within one year of their graduation.
