International Week: World Leaders for P.E.A.C.E. -- Bridging
Differences through Internationl Culture.
As part of the International Week celebrations, dormitory residents at the
International Center (IC) have come up with the following events:
(1) the International Parade on Feb. 6 at the Quezon Hall and
(2) the International Night on Feb. 10 at the IC.

The College of Home Economics is inviting the UPD faculty members to a seminar on the "Ethics in Extension" to be held on Feb. 13 (Monday) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the CHE Tearoom. One of the guest speakers will be from the Civil Service Commission.

UP Diliman - College of Science - Academia Sinica International Workshop. Researchers from the Research Center for Environmental Changes and the Biodiversity Research Center of Academia Sinica led by Dr. George T.F. Wong conducted a workshop with researchers from faculty members of various institutes of the College of Science. Parallel discussions were conducted on Earth Science and on Biology and Chemistry. The Director of the International Affairs Office Dr. Sue Lin-Chao also gave a talk on possible avenues for collaboration with Academia Sinica.

This year's ASEA UNINET GIScience Faculty Development Workshop was conducted in UP Diliman and was hosted by the Department of Geography of the College of Social Science and Philosophy. Participants from leading universities of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand attended the workshop whose theme was on "Integrating Spatial Reasoning in Interdisciplinary Research and Education".

The Office of Extension Coordination (OEC) is a staff unit under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA).
Our Mission
The OEC is committed to the development and promotion of academic and socially-responsible extension programs, institutional linkages and scholarly exchange envisaged to strengthen and sustain UP Diliman's competitiveness in providing leadership in meeting the human resources needs of the country.
Objectives
Guided by the above mission, the OEC aims to:
1. Act as catalyst in fostering a stimulating environment that offers vast
opportunities for high level scholarly exchange with distinguished visiting
professors and fellows;
Intensive English Program (IEP)
There are only two extension programs of the University of the Philippines Diliman that are authorized to teach English courses to foreign nationals. These are the Department of English and Comparative Literature of the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Education.
The university has not given authority to any person or agency to open an International Admission's office in any country. Neither has UP asked any agency abroad to accept payment for enrollment in the Intensive English Program. For verification and inquiries, please contact the OEC.
