Rules and regulations of the SURP Library

 

Control Desk
Most of the books are accessible on open shelves to library users. A control desk is maintained to safeguard library property. Inspection of books, packages and bags is done upon leaving the reading room. Presentation of a duly countersigned ID is required before a client is allowed to use the library resources. The ID card is not transferable and cannot be used by any other persons.

 

The SURP Library adopts the University Library (link) Rules and Regulations.

 

Borrower's Card
A duly countersigned ID card entitles a library user to apply for a borrower’s card for the semester in which he/she is enrolled. The card must be presented whenever a client wishes to borrow or return a circulating or home reading book.

 

Borrowing Privileges
Undergraduate students can borrow a maximum of five (5) books from any UP Library at a time. For graduate students and faculty, a maximum of ten (10) books at a time.

 

Overdue Fines

  • A fine of Php 2.00 a day exclusive of Sundays and Holidays is charged for any overdue circulation book.
  • Overdue fine for a reserve book Php 1.00 for the first hour or a fraction thereof and Php 5.00 for each hour after the first, up to a maximum of Php 50.00 for each full day.

Internet and Energy Fee

  • Internet fee of Php 20.00/hour for use of the facility.
  • Energy fee of Php 50.00/hour for use of the equipment/utilities.

Lost Books
Lost books must be reported and replaced or paid within 30 days. Payment shall be equivalent to the book's current market value. A fine equivalent to 50% of the current cost of the book shall be paid.

 

Rules and regulations for non-SURP Researchers

 

Alumni, former faculty and staff may use the library upon presentation of a valid ID and proof of former UP status. They will be issued a special library card which will entitle them to free use of the library for five(5) days per
semester or summer; after which they will pay a research fee of PHP 20.00/day or PHP 450.00/year.

Government researchers may use the library upon presentation of a valid office ID and referral letter from the office's Head Librarian. They will be issued a special library card which will entitle them to free use of the library for five(5) days per semester or summer, after which they will pay a research fee of PHP 20.00/day; PHP 450.00/semester; or PHP 300.00/summer.

Private researchers and graduate students from other schools may use the library on Wednesdays only, upon presentation of a valid office or school ID and referral letter from the office's or school's head librarian. They will be issued a special library card upon payment of a research fee of PHP50.00/day; PHP450.00/semester; or PHP300.00/summer.
