SPATIAL PLANNING FOR REGIONS IN GROWING ECONOMIES
(SPRING Program)
SPRING, an acronym for Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing
Economies, is a graduate program in regional and
district development planning and management, jointly offered by the
UP School of Urban and Regional Planning and the University of
Dortmund in Germany. The two-year Masters program which has courses
held both in Germany and in the Philippines is the SPRING (Asia)
program.
Sponsored by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany,
SPRING has the objective of improving the training of planners,
managers, and administrators in developing countries and of
supporting the development of education and research capacities in
rural-regional district development planning. The entire program is
conducted in the English language, but students should learn German
and Filipino (Tagalog) to facilitate living in Germany and the
Philippines.
Target Groups
The SPRING (Asia) Program caters to planners with a four-year
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent), and minimum of two years
experience in a related planning field, together with a strong
commitment to further work in regional development planning.
