October
22, 2008---The
UP School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP SURP) kicked off its 43rd
Founding Anniversary Celebration with a thanksgiving mass officiated
by Father Jessel Gerard M. Gonzales, S.J. and attended by SURP's
faculty, staff, and friends.
The mass was
followed by the rededication of the Cesar O. Marquez Room into the

inauguration of the Student Lounge and Alumni Office. The ceremony
was led by the School's officials, including Dean Candido A. Cabrido,
Jr.; College Secretary Prof. Rosario D. Jimenez; the Director of
Graduate Studies, Dr. Marideth R. Bravo; and the Director of

Academic Affairs; Archt. Cristina V. Turalba, President of the
UP SURP Alumni and Friends Foundation,
Inc. (UP SAFFI); and Ms. Visitacion R. Raquid of Geodata Systems
Technologies, Inc. grace the ceremony with their presence.
The program
featured an inspirational message from Dean Cabrido, who expressed
the School's gratitude to SAFFI, for providing the funds to
refurbish the GIS room and acquire eleven computers, and to Geodata
Systems Technologies, Inc. for presenting the School with free
licensed copies of the GIS software ArcView.
Dr. Jun T.
Castro, SURP faculty member who handles GIS courses, gave a short
demonstration of the GIS software. Archt. Felino A. Palafox, Jr.,
SURP alumnus, presented design schemes for the facade of the SURP
Buildings.

Night; the
