UP PLANADES signs MoC with
House of Representatives and DILG

--- The University of the Philippines Planning and Development
Research Foundation (U.P. PLANADES) signs a Memorandum of
Cooperation (MoC) with the
House of Representatives through the Special
Committee on Land Use and the
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on
capacity-building program of local government units in the
preparation of Comprehensive Development Plans (CDPs) and
Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs). UP PLANADES is the School of
Urban and Regional Planning’s foundation engaged in research
and extension services,
academic development, consultancy, and training in environmental,
urban and regional planning.
The MoC states
that the Special Committee on Land Use and the UP PLANADES shall
carry out the capacity-building training programs while the DILG
shall ensure the participation of LGUs.
Signatories to the
memorandum are Dean Candido A. Cabrido, Jr., Speaker Prospero C.
Nograles and DILG Sec. Ronaldo V. Puno, who was represented by Usec.
Marius P. Corpus. Also present to witness the signing of the
memorandum were PLANADES Executive Director Benjamin V. Carino,
PLANADES Vice President Rosario D. Jimenez, Prof. Ernesto M. Serote,
the SURP Director of Training, Rep. Antonio H. Cerilles, the Special Committee
chair who spearheaded the MoC. Committee members Reps. Joseph
Emilio A. Abaya (1st District Cavite), Florencio C. Garay
(2nd District Surigao del Sur), Philip A. Pichay (1st District
Surigao del Sur), Edgar L. Valdez (PL-APEC), and House
members Reps. Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr. (1st District Lanao del
Norte), Mark O. Cojuangco (5th District Pangasinan), Jack
R. Duavit (1st District Rizal), Florencio G. Noel (PL-AN
WARAY), Jesus Crispin C. Remulla (3rd District Cavite),
Victor J. Yu (1st District Zamboanga del Sur) graced the event.
