Chancellor Cao confers degrees of 31 SURP graduates

 

April 25, 2010---UP Diliman Chancellor Sergio S. Cao conferred the degrees and titles of two (2) PhD candidates, nine (9) masteral candidates, and twenty (20) Diploma candidates for graduation during the 2010 SURP Graduation Program held at the Firmalino Room of the UP SURP.

 

Dean Candido A. Cabrido, Jr. and Dr. Mario R. Delos Reyes, the College Secretary distributed commemorative pins to the 20 Diploma (Urban and Regional Planning (DURP)); two (2) Master of Arts (Urban and Regional Planning) MA URP; one (1) Master of Arts (Transportation Planning); six (6) Master of Science (Regional Development Planning (SPRING-Asia Program)) and two (2) Ph.D. (Urban and Regional Planning) candidates for graduation who were presented during the 2010 Recognition Program.

 

EnP Angeline T. Chua-Chiaco, the occasion's guest speaker, encouraged the new graduates to utilize their respective fields of planning expertise to shape the future of the nation.    

 

Five graduating students were awarded the Dean’s Medallion, which is given to graduating students who have maintained a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.25 or better. Dean Cabrido, Dr. Delos Reyes and Dr. Marideth R. Bravo, the Director of Graduate Studies presented the medals to: Dr. Dennis Sevilla Mas, PhD (URP); Ms. Kristine Carlos Follosco-Aspiras, MA (URP); and Diploma (URP) graduates, Ms. Maria Carmela Mandani Ibanez, Archt. Vivien Pauline Mendoza Rigodon, and Ret. Col. Fidel Bolilan Cao.

 

Chancellor Cao and Dean Cabrido also presented special certificates of recognition to the two doctoral graduates: Dr. Krishna V. Buenaventura and Dr. Dennis S. Mas who were conferred their titles. s

 

Ibanez, Follosco, and Mas later delivered responses on behalf of the graduates. Given their excellent scholastic achievement, Follosco and Mas were inducted to the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences earlier in March 2010.
