February 2008
SPECIAL Course on Urban and Regional Planning
(SCURP) 2008
The University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP-SURP) announces the
conduct of a series of SCURP training programs for 2008.
The Special Course on Urban and Regional Planning (SCURP)
2008, with the main theme "Rationalizing Local Planning in the Philippines",
aims to introduce a model for local environmental planning and development that will integrate planning in the overall governance function. Through this special course, UP-SURP hopes to contribute to the national effort to localize the principles of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Although the training is primarily designed for local government officials, it
also addresses the needs of officers and staff of national agencies involved in
the formulation and enforcement of local planning guidelines and standards, or
in implementing laws, policies, programs and projects requiring coordination
with, and cooperation of local government units, private sector, and
non-governmental organizations. Participants are from both public sector, i.e.,
local government officials, officials and field officers of national government
agencies, and private sector, particularly from the NGOs and real estate
business.
The special course will be held for ten (10) consecutive Saturdays, beginning
February 9 until April 19, 2008 at the SURP Building in U.P. Diliman, Quezon
City.
Customized SCURP trainings for Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)
personnel are also scheduled on March 3-14 and April 14-25, 2008.
The cost per participant is P12,000, inclusive of materials, lunch and two snacks. A Certificate of Training will be given to participants who will attend at least eighty percent of all sessions. For inquiries and registration, you may contact Mr. Leoneil C. Maranan
or Ms. Kristine Follosco at 9262120 or 9818500 loc. 4082.
