Closing Remarks delivered during the MoC Signing with the House of Representatives and DILG

Honorable Speaker of the House, Congressman Prospero Nograles, distinguished House Representatives, Congressmen [Antonio H.] Cerilles, [Vicente, Jr. F.] Belmonte, [Edgar L.] Valdez, [Philip A.] Pichay, [Jesus Crispin] Remulla, [Florencio C.] Garay, [Joseph Emilio A.] Abaya, [Victor F.] Yu, [Mark O.] Cojuangco, [Florencio G.] Noel, [Jack R.] Duavit, DILG Undersecretary Marius Corpus, faculty members of SURP, officers of the UP PLANADES Foundation, guests, ladies and gentlemen.

This MoC signing among the UP PLANADES Foundation, Inc., the House of Representatives, and the DILG is a landmark event in the history of the UP PLANADES, the foundation of the UP SURP. The PLANADES is the research and consultancy arm of the SURP and its earnings are used to improve the school facilities, to provide for faculty development and scholarships for students, and to augment the meager resources of the school.

In turn, the Foundation, for the last 32 years, has helped a lot of government and private organizations in their planning and development of sites, cities, municipalities, provinces, and regions. It has also been involved in the implementation of several programs and projects at the national level and contributed to the development of policies and institutional capabilities of many government agencies through its planning, training, and research services. We are your partners in development and we are committed to serve and promote the interest of the general public.  

We are very much honored to have the Speaker of the House as our guest and signatory to the MoC, together with the other honorable congressmen and the Undersecretary from DILG. This event is made even more special and memorable because it is the Centennial Anniversary of the University of the Philippines. By tapping the services of the Foundation, you are contributing to the development of the SURP.

The MoC marks the beginning of the partnership between our Foundation and the House of Representatives and the DILG. With this MoC, we can work together towards pursuing a sustainable urban and regional development, balancing the use of our precious land and water resources for multiple and most productive uses to ensure food and energy security, a progressive human settlements development, a clean, green, and safe environment and a better quality of life for Filipinos.

With your support, we are optimistic that together, we can make a difference in changing the landscapes and seascapes of our localities and nation to a more economically productive and highly livable environment.

Again, thank you very much for giving us this rare opportunity to serve your institutions and our society. We will exert our best and harness our vast knowledge resources to help you plan your aspirations for a better society.
