LECTURE SERIES
The Training and Extension Services
Division invites experts in different areas of planning to
deliver free lectures to faculty, students and interested planners
from time to time. In 2005, SURP hosted five (5) Public Lectures on
the following topics:

Travel Demand Management in
Metropolitan Areas;

Applications of Agent-Based
Modelling in Analyzing Complexity and Spatial Dynamics of
Land-Use Change;

Supply and Disposal Systems in
Spatial Planning: Interaction between Land-Use and Piped Water
Supply Systems;

Partnership Planning for Indigenous
Cultural Landscapes: Conditions for Conflict or Collaboration at
Mt. Pulag National Park;

Building a Comprehensive,
Innovative, Multi-Modal Truck/Freight Model for the Los Angeles
Metropolitan Area: A Preliminary Model Using Cube Cargo.
As part of the 40th Ruby Anniversary
celebration of the School of Urban and Regional Planning, the
Training Division conducted the Public Lecture-Series which were
held from October 17-21, 2005 at the Mini-Theater of SURP. The
lectures delivered during the 5-day event covered the following
subject matters:

Assessment of Planning Education in
the Last Four Decades;

Advocating and Localizing the
Millennium Development Goals;
-
Ensuring Environmental
Sustainability and Local Development Planning;
-
Strategic/Environmental Planning –
Towards Sustainable Urban Development, Management, and
Governance;
-
Innovations in Local Development
Planning
High caliber individuals, which most of
them are considered as pillars of the planning practice in the
Philippines, were invited as resource persons.
