Lopez Wui, Ma. Glenda S. and Teresa S. Encarnacion Tadem, eds. 2006. People, Profit, and Politics: State-Civil Society Relations in the Context of Globalization. Quezon City: Third World Studies Center. Based on the findings of TWSC's research project on state-civil society engagement at a period of globalization, which focused on four sectors widely known to have been affected by economic globalization: vegetable, hog, garments, and telecommunications. The project investigates two interrelated aspects of state-civil society relations: how civil-society actors engage with official state agencies through various formal and informal strategies of dialogue, negotiation, and bargaining; and the extent to which civil-society actors have been able to influence governmental policy making. Published in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme.

Tadem, Eduardo C. 1986. Grains and Radicalism: The Political Economy of the Rice Industry in the Philippines. Quezon City: Third World Studies Center. The study is a broad historical overview of the development of the rice industry and the changes brought about by the mechanization and entry of transnational corporations in the industry. It also includes a discussion on land reform.

The book compiles the different papers presented during the commemoration of Marx's centennial. The book is a compilation of essays on the history, politics and economics of major agricultural commodities of the Philippines. It includes an abridged version of the Center's research on the banana industry, Alfred McCoy's "In Extreme Unction: The Philippine Sugar Industry", Rigoberto Tiglao's "The Political Economy of the Philippine Coconut Industry", and Patricia Torres Mejia's "Philippine Virginia Tobacco: Thirty Years of Increasing Dependency".
