Notes for Contributors
Text
Authors should submit 3 complete copies of their paper, with any original illustrations, to The Editor. It will be assumed that the authors will keep a copy of their paper.
Submission of article, opinion pieces for the Perspective section and reviews should be in English, typed in double space (including all notes and references) on one side of A4 paper. English or American spelling is acceptable provided usage is consistent.
Submission of an article will be taken to imply that it presents original, unpublished work not under consideration for publication elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, the authors agree that the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article have been given to the Publisher.
Permission to quote from or reproduce copyrighted material must be obtained by the authors before submission and acknowledgements should be included in the typescript, preferably in the form of an Acknowledgements section at the end of the paper, before the Notes or References.Where photographs or figures are reproduced, acknowledgement of source and copyright should be given in the caption.
An abstract of the paper, of up to 300 words, should accompany the article. In addition a list of up to 6 keywords, suitable for indexing, abstracting services and on-line searching purposes should be supplied.
Articles should not normally exceed 8,000 words in length. If your word-processor is capable of doing a word count please use it to print this at the end of the text, together with the date of the manuscript. Notes should be kept to a minimum and placed at the end of the article before the References; footnotes should be avoided.
Opinion pieces for the Perspective section should be between 500 to 1000 words.
Reviews should be between 1000 to 1500 words and must deal with recently released books, films, websites and other information sources which are relevant to the issue’s theme etc.
A brief biographical note about each author should be supplied on a separate sheet. Details should be given of author’s full postal and e-mail addresses as well as telephone and fax numbers.
Authors are requested to send an electronic version of the finally accepted version of their article on disk, providing details of the make and model of the computer and the name and version number of the word-processing software used. It is important that authors ensure that their typescript is an exact printout of what is on the disk.
Illustrations
Tables, figures and plates should not be inserted within the pages of the manuscript but should be submitted on separate sheets attached to the article.
- Tables should be prepared with the minimum use of horizontal rules (usually three are sufficient) and avoiding vertical rules.
- It is important to provide clear copy of figures (not photocopies or faxes) which can be reproduced by the printer and do not require redrawing.
- Photographs should be high-contrast black and white glossy prints, if the photograph is available in digital form, the electronic copy must also be submitted.
The desired position for each table, figure and plate should be indicated in the manuscript.
References
The journal uses the author-date system of documentation following The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition. Kate L. Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th edition can also be used for the same purpose. Within the text, parenthetical reference is used containing the author's last name,followed by the year of publication of the work cited. If a specific page, section, or other division of the work is cited, page numbers or other particular references follow the date of publication, preceded by a comma. There is no punctuation between author and date. A complete list of sources cited should be provided at the end of the text.

Proofs
Page proofs will be sent for correction to the first-named author, unless otherwise requested. The difficulty and expense involved in making amendments at the page proof stage make it essential for authors to prepare their typescripts carefully. Our aim is rapid publication: this will be helped if authors provide good copy.
Early Electronic Offprints
Corresponding authors can now receive their article by e-mail as a complete PDF. A copy of the journal will be sent by post to all corresponding authors after publication. Additional copies of the journal can be purchased at the author’s preferential rate of P200 or $5.00 per copy.
