Presently Director of the Third World Studies Center and Associate
Professor of the Department of Political Science, College of Social
Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines-Diliman. Her
research interests are on social movements, democratization and
development. She has articles in journals and chapters in books,
locally and internationally, on topics such as Thai Social Movements
and the Anti-ADB Campaigns, Transforming the State into a Partner in
Cooperative Development "Southeast and Northeast Asian NGO Experiences:
Intervening in State-led 'Economic Miracles'", Possibilities and
Limitations of an Alternative Cooperative Philosophy: The Buscayno
Experiment, Anti-Globalization Movements in Southeast Asia and
Ethnicity and Separatist Movements in Southeast Asia (the last two
publications co-authored with Eduardo C. Tadem). She holds a PhD in
Political Science from the City University of Hong Kong.
