UPD inks MOU with Lamar University

(July 26)— University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Lamar University (LU), a member of Texas State University System, USA, on July 25 at the Office of the Chancellor in Quezon Hall.

Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma represented UPD, while Dr. Greg Thompson, Chair of LU’s Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (DFCS) signed the MOU on behalf of LU president Dr. James M. Simmons.

The MOU aims to foster international cooperation in education, research and cultural exchange. Both institutions seek to develop mutually beneficial programs for their students and faculty, specifically the UP College of Home Economics (CHE) and LU’s Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

As stated in the MOU, areas of cooperation of the two universities include development of collaborative academic courses and programs in full compliance with accreditation and professional requirements of both institutions; transfer of academic credit-bearing courses based on mutual transparency of course content and faculty qualification; exchange of graduate and undergraduate students for study and research; exchange of faculty for instructions, lectures, and research; exchange of educational materials, research projects, publications, and library materials; joint conferences, seminars, and workshops; and other activities as future development warrant their discussion.
