(June 22)—Prof. Ronualdo U. Dizer, Assistant Professor VII and the conditioning coach of the UP Men’s Basketball Team, was sworn into office by Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma as the new College of Human Kinetics (CHK) dean on June 21.
He started his term as dean on June 1, 2012 and will serve until May 31, 2015.
Dizer obtained his undergraduate and master’s degree in Physical Education and a diploma in Sports Coaching from UPD.
He served as chairperson of the CHK Department of Physical Education from 2009 to 2012.
He also served as conditioning coach to various teams, the most recent of which were the UP Men’s Basketball Team and the UP Junior Poweraid Team. He has been the head of the corporate team building/ fun games and outdoor adventure events of the REMSPEC Event Management Company since 2010.
He was a consultant for the St. Stephen High School specifically for sports conditioning and injury management from 2009 to 2010 and SM-National University basketball program from 2008 to 2009.
Dizer authored several textbooks mostly published by the Salesiana Publishing Incorporated and Don Bosco Press. His most recent works include Elementary Textbook in Physical Education for Grades 1 to 6 Series which was published in 2012; and the Health Education High School Textbook Series for 4th year high school published in June 2011.
Aside from textbooks, he authored several researches, two of the most recent were presented internationally namely, Self regulating strategies engaged in by the University of the Philippine athletes to control negative moods: Fatigue and Confusion (at the 22th Pan-Asian Congress of Sports and Physical Education held from July 22 to 24, 2011 in Tsinghua University in China); and Self regulating strategies engaged in by the University of the Philippine athletes to control negative moods: Anger and Depression (at the III ICPESS International Conference of Physical Education and Sports Science 2010 held from May 25 to 28, 2010 at the National Institute of Singapore).
Witnesses to Dizer’s oath taking were his mother, wife and daughter. Also present were members of the CHK College Executive Board, namely, Professors Mynette Aguilar (CHK’s college secretary), Oscar Santelices, Gilda Uy (former CHK dean), Ariel Juliano and Francis Carlos Diaz; and Physical Education instructors Ralph Andrew Ramos and Zyra Ruth Brebante.
