(DHRIM, June 18)--The UP Home Economics Alumni Association (UPHEAA) and the UP Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (DHRIM) announce the one-night concert of Aliw Awards’ 2011 Best Choral Group, the UP Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) on June 23, 7 p.m. at the Toyota-GT Asian Center Auditorium at the UP Diliman Campus.
Enjoy a relaxing evening of music with the internationally acclaimed and multi-awarded UPSA under the Baton of Ed Manguiat, the group’s founder and conductor. Performing music from the classical to the most modern genre, UPSA has presented glimpses of Philippine culture to vast audiences in Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States. Founder and Conductor Manguiat led the group to win top awards in prestigious choral competitions in Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Wales, Hungary and Switzerland.
Now on its 30th year, UPSA finds great fulfilment sharing its music to its regular local and international audiences, and more significantly, to the less privileged who are constant recipients of their musical generosity. The concert on June 23 is the kick-off for the fund-raising campaign for the Integrated Training Research Facility (ITRF) of the DHRIM.
The UP HRIM is the first in the Philippines to offer a degree specializing in hotel and restaurant management in 1970, and a graduate program, the Master of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management in 1982. The programs not only focus on the management of profit-oriented types of hotels and restaurants but also the more service-oriented types of accommodations and foodservices. Both have churned out successful graduates that now man the industry, many of whom are now managers of hotels and food services including successful entrepreneurs and academicians. The UP HRIM program is housed at the College of Home Economics at UPD. The Integrated Training Research Facility (ITRF) will allow sustained quality programs for hospitality management, and in order that the graduates could be more responsive to global and industry developments.
Tickets are priced only at P1, 500 for VIP seats; and P500 for regular seats. For ticket purchases and reservations, please contact: the DHRIM office at telephone number: 92202941 or the UPHEAA thru Cora Claudio at: 9109283905724 or 9206873.
