Statistics students triumphed in an online stock trading competition

Two senior BS Statistics students, Raquel Celeste and Jomel Sadsad, bagged the top award in the recently concluded Stock X Challenge Stock Trading Competition Series 2.

The competition, held from November 21, 2011 to May 21, 2012, is basically a virtual trading stock challenge. Each team was given an initial virtual capital of P10 Million to invest in stocks. The team with highest valued stock at the end of the competition was adjudged the champion.

The duo, known as Team Ninja, bested 158 other teams from different colleges and universities in the country.

The competition, dubbed as the ultimate competition of online stock trading and investment, was organized First Metro Investment Corporation, First Metro Asset Management, Inc., & First Metro Securities Brokerage Corporation in partnership with Philippine Stock Exchange and Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines. —ACG
