Wellness Fair Convention launched


Members of the UP Manila College of Medicine Class of 1987 and CHK students arrive at the UP Bahay ng Alumni for the start of the caravan.

(June 29)–The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) in cooperation with the UP System, the UP Health Service and the UP Manila College of Medicine Class of 1987 recently held the Wellness Fair Convention and launched the Diliman Wellness Program last Tuesday, June 26.

Members of the UPD community (faculty, employees and select students from the College of Human Kinetics) gathered in front of Quezon Hall to participate in a Fun Walk which began at 7 a.m. in front of Quezon Hall and ended in front of the UP Bahay ng Alumni, where the whole-day caravan was held.

Entitled “Seasons of Life: The Science of Wellness Throughout Our Lifespan,” the caravan featured lectures and talks by prominent speakers and medical experts who are graduates of the UP College of Medicine on topics ranging from genetics to geriatrics.

The first 300 registrants were given free blood sugar, cholesterol, Hepatitis C and Bone Density screening tests, as well as discounted immunization of anti-HPV and pneumococcal vaccines. –AKR
