(June 18) - A new theater building will soon dot the campus skyline courtesy of the Euro Towers International Inc. (ETII).

The ETII has spearheaded the construction project for the use of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL).

A simple groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 13 at the site, the vacant 3000 square meters area fronting Vidal A. Tan Hall.

Envisioned to be a three-storey building from the design of Architect Jayson Buensalido, the CAL Theater will have a 500 tiered-seating capacity and a proscenium-thrust stage. The building will also house two rehearsal halls and seminar rooms. Design wise, the theater building will employ academic architectural character consistent with the design styles on campus.

Present during the ceremony were UP President Alfredo E. Pascual, UPD Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma, CAL dean Elena Mirano, officials of ETII led by Ignacio Gimenez, ETII chairman of the board and a UPD alumnus, Edmundo Las Hotel Sogo Chief executive officer, and William Go, Eurotel managing director. — ACG
