UP anniversary bonus set to be released this week in UPD
(June 18)—UP employees in UPD have one more reason to celebrate apart from UP’s birthday as the UP anniversary bonus will be released this week, according to the UPD Accounting Office.
In an interview with UPDate, UPD Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma said he gave the go signal to Administration Vice Chancellor Virginia C. Yap to release the P3,000 anniversary bonus yesterday evening.
The P3,000 per employee is an anniversary bonus “in commemoration of the 5-year milestone of the University of the Philippines.”
The UP Board of Regents (BOR) approved the bonus at its 1287th meeting last April 12.
According to the Office of the Secretary of the University’s official release of the excerpts of BOR’s 1287th meeting, the anniversary bonus was issued by then President Fidel V. Ramos through Administrative Order 263 s. 1996 “to provide for P3,000 per employee as Anniversary Bonus to commemorate a 5-year milestone of a government agency. As provided by AO 263, funding could be sourced from Savings.”—MDJ
