(May 18)—The UP Diliman Administration renewed the lease of the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice (PHS) with the signing of the Contract of Lease between UP and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao (RCDC) on May 17 at the Board of Regents Room in Quezon Hall.

The lease period covers three years, starting March 1, 2011 to February 28, 2014.

The Catholic chapel was constructed in a 10,000 square meter area along Agoncillo, Laurel and Apacible streets 40 years ago with the signing of a contract of lease between the university and the UP Catholic Community in August 1965. In March 1987, a supplemental contract allowed the construction of a preschool building within the premises.

Today the PHS is under the jurisdiction of the RCDC and is headed by its bishop Rev. Honesto F. Ongtioco D.D., who signed the contract with UPD Chancellor Caesar A. Saloma.

The contract was signed in the presence of PHS Parish Priest Fr. Henry E. Ferreras, Parish Pastoral Council Coordinator Dr. Nestor Pilar, Dr. Ronald S. Banzon, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Prof. Virginia C. Yap, Vice Chancellor for Administration; Dr. Raquel B. Florendo, Business Concessions Office director and Dr. Cristine DLR Villagonzalo, Office of Extension Coordination director.

UP President Alfredo E. Pascual graced the affair.—CIA
